Jens Gerken

Professor


Jens is a Professor of Media Informatics and Human-Computer Interaction and is leading the group at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences since 2015. His research interests and experiences cover a broad range of topics, such as novel interaction techniques, input technologies, augmented reality, empirical methods and especially interactive collaborative work environments.

Senior Researcher


Roman holds a PhD in Computer Science with a focus on HCI and Ubiquitous Computing, specifically multi-device interaction technologies. He is currently on a research visit @ facebook and focuses his research on the intersection of Machine Learning and HCI

Max Pascher

Research Assistant / Ph.D. student


Max is a research assistant and a doctoral student in cooperation with the University of Duisburg-Essen in the field of Human-Robot Interaction. His research interests and experiences cover a broad range of topics, such as novel interaction techniques in human-robot collaborations, intervention strategies in autonomous robot tasks, distributed systems, smart home/city/factory environments, ambient assisted living and artificial intelligence.

Stephanie Arévalo

Research Assistant / Ph.D. student


Stephanie is a research assistant and a doctoral candidate in cooperation with the University of Duisburg-Essen. She is interested in designing technology from a human-centered perspective. Her research interests include assistive technologies, affective computing, computer supported cooperative work, multimodal interaction, human-robot interaction, internet of things and social psychology. Her current research focuses on multimodality and mixed reality in human-robot interaction.

Juan Olaya

Juan is a research assistant and a doctorate candidate. He is interested in developing technology for collaborative working environments to transform ideas into real projects. His research interests cover a range of topics such as: computer-supported cooperative work, augmented reality, full-body interaction and computer science education

Marvin Becker

Research Assistant


Marvin is a research assistant and a master student of media informatics at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences. He helps and advices students in HCI related courses. He is a tech enthusiast, interested in new gadgets and everything game-related. The focus in his research lies on virtual and mixed reality. Additionally, Marvin is participating in a group project researching new methods for human-robot interaction in assisted living.

Florian Borsum

Research Assistant


Florian is a research assistant and master student of Media Informatics at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences. He is interested in optimizing collaborative working environments through the use of new technologies and interaction possibilities. His research interests include user centered design, voice assistants, gamification, virtual reality and the use of scents. Currently he is part of a group project researching new methods for human-robot interaction in assisted living.

Franziska Rücker

Master Research Student


Franziska is a master research student and currently studies Media Informatics at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences. She has experience with programming applications for virtual, augmented and mixed-reality. Her research interests include the implementation of human-computer interactions and experimenting with new technologies.

Tim Dierks

Master Research Student


Tim is a master research student and currently studies Media Informatics at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences. His research interests include real-time graphics programming, virtual and augmented reality, as well as mixed-reality applications. His current focus is on human-computer interaction and the Microsoft HoloLens.

Younes Lakhnati

Research Student


Younes is a bachelor student and currently studies Media Informatics at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences. His research interests include augmented reality and mixed-reality applications for the Microsoft HoloLens, as well as harnessing technologies to assist and improve the working process in collaborative working environments.
